New Rule Provides Safeguards When Buying And Selling Horses In Florida
Safe removal of the Desert Rose - Oleander :as per health department either have a landscaper that is familiar with the toxicity of the plant do it or if you do it use a shovel-do not touch any part of the plant, even dead parts, make sure to dig up all of the roots and ground around it and dispose of it in a tightly sealed garbage bag WITH your regular garbage-DO NOT allow it to go out with your foliage, if the plant is burned, ingesting the smoke is even more toxic!!
*My son was in the ER in & out of consciousness for 10 hrs. and then spent another 18 hours in Pediatric ICU after picking a Desert Rose flower, pulling the petals apart and smelling it while he was at VBS. It is very serious, please pass this on to anyone you know who may have one. They are extremely common and are sold right at our local stores!
ALERT Eastern equine encephalitis
Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 9:08 AM
After having the unfortunate task of humanely euthanizing the first documented 2010 EEE case in an equine in PBC last week, I felt compelled to send this email to all horse owners. 90% of horses who show clinical signs of EEE will die..We can easily prevent this by vaccinating every 6 months. A simple 25.00 EWT shot can save your horse's life. Please call me or your local veterinarian for more details. Thanks for reading this email. Dr. Eileen Gesoff
